ND American Legion Foundation (NDALF)
Foundation By-Laws
This is YOUR Foundation – help it grow!
The NDALF is YOUR Foundation. If it is to grow and provide services to the Department and its members, it is up to Legionnaires to help it grow. Plant the seeds of thought in the minds of potential donors. Your assistance is welcome and needed!
What is the purpose of the Foundation?
Quite simply, it was created to provide financial support for American Legion programs in the future. The Foundation supports the Nesheim Scholarship, the American Legion Band, Boys State and other programs we categorize under the Children and Youth pillar of service.
Those programs requesting operating funds must do so in writing by December 31 of each year so that any allocations may be made during the mid-winter meeting.
What can the Foundation do for me?
The answer here is not quite so simple. The Foundation continues the tradition of service by promoting causes that we, as Legionnaires, stand for, including Patriotism, Children and Youth, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation and National Security. It gives you the avenue to support these important causes while receiving the tax benefits that come with donating to a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
How can I donate?
Send check to North Dakota American Legion Foundation, P.O. Box 5057, West Fargo, ND 58078. Making donations in memory of or in honor of others is a great way to honor a veteran’s service and continue their legacy.

If this is a memorial donation, please send an email to programs@ndlegion.org and tell us who and where we should send an acknowledgement to. Also send your address so that we can send you a receipt.
The Foundation also provides a way for Legionnaires and those who support our causes to donate a portion of their estate — a great way to serve others while lessening the tax burden on heirs. We encourage donors in this instance to consult their accountant, tax advisor and/or attorney.
